10 ideas for a memorable (socially-distanced!) garden party

1. Hang lights

Add some magic to your alfresco entertainment with some strategically hung lights. Wrap a tree, drape over a bush—create an enchanting atmosphere.

2. Big batch cocktails and mason jars

Avoid the hassle of individual cocktail orders with a deep bowl of your favourite blend. Serve in glass mason jars to give your concoctions a dose of character.

3. Flowers for stirrers

Attach a flower to a wooden skewer for a stylish eye-catching drinks stirrer.

4. Lemonade bar

Whip up a batch of homemade lemonade, serve from a Nantucket-style drinks dispenser and voilà! A ready-to-go lemonade bar. Great for kids and adults.

5. Get a bar cart

If you’ve not got the budget or garden space for an outdoor bar, why not invest in a bar cart. Wheel around all your drinks, h’orderves and canapés with this nifty four-wheeled maestro!

6. Fire pits

Keep the flames of your evening lit, even when the sun goes down, with a cast iron fire pit. A great focal point (and heat source!) for an outdoor social gathering.

7. Floating flowers

If you’re looking for a charming organic aesthetic, try floating flowers in your bird bath—or, if you don’t have one, a deep ceramic dish. Why not throw in a few floating candles?

8. Outdoor essentials

If your summer party is going to last all day, how about providing baskets of alfresco essentials for your guests. Sun cream, hand wipes, blankets for when the sun starts to set.

9. Piñata

A great way for the kids—and, let’s face it, the adults—to blow off some steam. A fun centrepiece for your outdoor soiree and plenty of entertainment to boot!

10. Picnic area

Away from the party’s main hub and seating area, how about setting up a casual picnic area with plenty of pillows, rugs and blankets.
