The Kyokusen Swing Seat

The Kyokusen is one of our best sellers and has become known as our signature piece. From its sensuously elegant curves to whichever back design of our five is chosen, it’s a remarkable swing seat.  Many have likened it to a sculpture in their garden, standing proud and adding an element of almost spiritual peace to its surroundings.

The Torii Gate

In the very early day of Sitting Spiritually Martin was very interested in his garden being developed along Feng Shui principles, something that he still adheres to in the garden today. He had always loved the shape of the Torii Gate….a torii gate marks the approach and entrance to a Shinto shrine. It is the division between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Feng Shui

Looking for inspiration for a new wooden garden swing seat, for his newly formed company, he met with a man called Paul Darby, also known as the Feng Shui Doctor and together they discussed the Torii Gate and from this the Kyokusen was born.

Curves in the Air

Kyokusen is Japanese for “Curves in the air”. The Kyokusen Garden Swing Seat is cut from naturally curved Oak, so each one is unique, it is not steam bent or forced. 

Comfort is Key

This seat follows the natural curves of the individual piece of timber, so you could say it’s ‘contoured for comfort’.  The Kyokusen is a very special garden swing seat – comfortable to sit on, relaxing to recline on, sculptural & beautiful to look at, and with the durability of oak it will last a lifetime.

Back Designs

The Kyokusen oak garden swing seat is available with five different back designs: Heart Back, Curve Back, Fan Back, Slat Back and Swirl Back. This FSC oak garden swing seat is available as a 2, 3 or 4 seater & may be viewed in the Sitting Spiritually Garden.
