Given the scale and craftsmanship of our Swinging Day Bed, delivery and installation are typically carried out personally by the maker, Alex DeBono. This ensures the structure is assembled precisely as intended and positioned with care within your garden.

Prior to delivery, you will be contacted to confirm a suitable date and to discuss access in detail - from pathways and surfaces to final placement beneath a pergola or within a chosen garden room. On the day, the Day Bed is assembled on site, levelled and secured where required. Soft furnishings, roof elements and covers are fitted, and every detail is checked before completion.

As with all our pieces, we invite you to step in, sit back and gently sway - ensuring the balance and feel are exactly right. It is a considered installation, undertaken with the same calm precision as the making itself.

Our oak pergolas are crafted from fresh sawn green oak supplied by Hewins Timber, selected specifically for structural strength and long-term performance outdoors. Unlike the air-dried oak used for our swing seats, green oak is used in its freshly cut state, retaining a higher natural moisture content at the point of construction.

As the pergola settles in the garden, the timber begins to dry gradually from day one. This natural seasoning process allows the structure to tighten and strengthen over time, with joints drawing firm as the oak slowly cures in situ. Subtle surface checks and characterful movement are a normal and expected part of this process — visible signs of a natural material responding to its environment.

The roof is finished in Western Red Cedar, chosen for its natural durability, lightness and quiet beauty. Rich in tone when new, the cedar weathers gently over time, softening to an elegant silvery character that sits beautifully alongside the mellowing oak frame. Together, these timbers create a structure of warmth and architectural presence — substantial, enduring and designed to feel at home in the landscape for many years to come.
